Boxing … A Safe Sport
It is generally presumed that Boxing being an aggressive Contact Sport is one of the most dangerous Sports. The research however, brings into light a totally different picture. Let’s look at few of the facts about the Sport, which will prove that Boxing is a Safe Sport.
- Boxing ranks as the safest Sport among Contact Sports such as Football and Wrestling
and among other events such as Equestrian events and Motor Cycle Racing.
- It is much safer than many of the Adventure Sports like - Sky Diving, Para Gliding,
Mountaineering, Scuba Diving etc.
- According to the USA’s National Safety Council's Accident Report, Boxing is ranked
23rd on its list of injury prone Sports.
- Boxing ranks lower in number of injuries when compared to Hockey, Soccer,
Gymnastics, and In-line Skating.
- The injury figure in Boxing too is more during Training, Exercising & Working Out
rather than in the Ring.
- With the development of protective equipment, particularly Injection Moulded Practice
& Safety Equipment, Boxing has become all the more safer.
